Reclaiming Space for Women

Reclaiming Space for Women
Wednesday May 9, 2019
6:30 PM – 9 PM
Hosted by Jennie Kristel, REAT, APTT, RMT
and Corrine Mertz,MSW LICSW
It is not easy to be a woman in our country or world right now, and if you are a woman who carries other marginalized identities existing becomes even more layered and complicated. We are creating a space for women of many identities to claim and hold space together. As women, we do not want to stand by and watch but instead take action: Come together and RAISE and hear our voices come together. No one should feel like they’re going through grief, anger, resentment, or silence alone. If you are finding yourself disheartened, grieving, or coping with the current state of our world or your own personal world, and needing to hold space for these complex feelings with other women we hope you will consider joining us. Our time together will incorporate using our voices, sound, visual art, journaling and movement, to imagine and bring forth our strength and our voices. We understand the history of women’s spaces being marginalizing to women who carry many other marginalized identities and we aim to create an intersectional space that allows all women’s identities to be present and valued. We do not claim to be experts in intersectionality but aim to create a space that values everyone equally and with confidentiality so we simply can be who we are and where we are right now while perhaps offering a way to be less alone and to remember that we do Matter.
